Vessels detect more pings in search for missing plane
NBC News: Search vessels have now detected a total of four signals consistent with a flight data recorder in same area during the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines jet, Australian officials said Wednesday.
Australian Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston said two of the signals were located on April 5 and two more relocated on April 8, narrowing the search to a “manageable” area of 75,000 square kilometers. Australia is bringing sonar buoys to the area to help pinpoint the location of the pings before deploying submarines.
Although the signals were weakening, and Houston said there is a long way to go before officials find the plane, he said he is confident search teams are in the right area.
"What we’re picking up is a great lead," he said.
